Asma Al Thani (Asma)

About Asma

Asma Al Thani, a trailblazer from Qatar, is the first Arab female to complete the Explorers Grand Slam—climbing the Seven Summits and skiing to both the North and South Poles. She is also the first and only Qatari woman to summit seven of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, including Manaslu and Lhotse without supplemental oxygen, and is currently pursuing her mission to summit all 14 of the 8,000-meter peaks as part of her “Beyond Boundaries” initiative.

Her climbing achievements include summiting some of the world’s most challenging peaks, such as Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, K2, and Ama Dablam, breaking barriers in adventure sports and inspiring women and youth to push beyond societal expectations. Asma’s journey highlights the importance of resilience, courage, and determination, encouraging others to take on their own challenges and surpass personal limits.

Professionally, Asma is the Director of Marketing and International Cooperation Sector at the Qatar Olympic Committee, where she plays a pivotal role in enhancing Qatar’s global presence through international sporting events and cross-cultural initiatives.

As a UNHCR High Profile Supporter, Asma combines her passion for adventure with humanitarian efforts, advocating for refugees through sports-based programs and initiatives. Her leadership and contributions have earned her prestigious accolades, including recognition as a ‘Leader Under 40’ by Leaders in Sport and ‘Women of the Year’ by Grazia.

“In life my mission is to inspire and give back – for that reason I am proud to wear kit that serves a purpose by supporting the Nimsdai FOundation.
